Wedding Photography And Why It's Important to Invest In
your wedding budget and prioritizing and allocating your funds might be difficult, and you may wonder which wedding vendors are the most important to spend money on. But, before you start searching for a wedding
photographer for your Ventura County wedding, you need to know why professional wedding photography is important
and why you should invest in it.
Why is Wedding
If you live in Southern California, you mostly like have "your beach". The beach that you like the most, the beach that your family went to growing up, the beach that has some attachment to it. For me, that beach is right by the Ventura Pier, right down the street from Main Street and downtown Ventura. Where I live in Simi Valley is pretty equidistant to either Malibu area or Ventura area, and Ventura just feels so much cozier to me. With its vibrant murals and historic architecture (hello..
Monica told me "We just want to celebrate and gather with our friends and family after 2020. We just want to have fun". So they chose Enegren Brewing Company in Moorpark CA to have their wedding ceremony and reception. The Alley in Moorpark hosts Enegren Brewing Company and Lucas Sellars Wine, as well as Fire and Vice Pizza. The whole Alley participated, where guests could select their food and drinks while they hung out in the Alley. The groom wore traditional Scottish attire, and other guests ..
Well, 2021 is already over. While 2020 was a year of wedding postponements and cancellations, 2021 was a year of "We don't want to wait anymore" with a lot of weddings and also bigger celebrations of elopements that had already happened in 2020. Actually, about half of my couples this year were already legally married! Lots of engagement sessions, and some family and maternity sessions sprinkled in. It's so cliché, but gosh what a cool job to witness the most beautiful moments in people's lives...
Growing up in Simi Valley, I can't count how many times I had a field trip or other reason to visit Strathearn Historical Park. Simi Valley and most of Ventura County was originally all ranches and very small towns, so the historical park pays tribute to that in having original houses and buildings from the 1800s and 1900s. Many buildings have ended up moved to the property to be preserved, such as the St. Rose of Lima church building, where Jordan (the bride) waited before the ceremony. The bar..
Sometimes things that don't go to plan end up going even better. I will admit that I was super nervous driving into Ventura for Michelle's shoot. In Simi Valley and all the way to Oxnard it was sunny and clear, and we had timed our session for golden hour. All of a sudden driving past Oxnard the thickest marine layer of fog I have ever seen appeared. We met at the Ventura Pier and I asked if we wanted to reschedule, Michelle said "It can't be that bad right?" Mostly I felt bad that it was cold, ..
I finished my first ever full month of a Project 365! If you aren’t familiar, a Project 365 or “365” is a common photography project in which photographers attempt to create one photo a day for an entire year. Another common one is a Project 52, which is one photo per week, usually under a certain theme and with a bit more planning and thought than just a day to day 365.I’ve started this project a couple times in the past but always ended up feeling either uninspired or overwhelmed. Luckily this..
October brought me three gorgeous backyard weddings to witness and photograph. Since Los Angeles and Ventura counties keep going back and forth on various restrictions, which has been so hard for both couples and vendors/ venues to navigate, many couples have chosen to use their own spaces to exchange their vows with just close family and friends. And you can't get closer than getting married in your childhood backyard in Simi Valley surrounded by loved ones. Because there were so many kiddos, a..
You know those various people from your past that hold a special place in your heart, even if you haven't seen them in years and years? Mady is one of those people for me. When I was a Senior at Santa Susana High School, Mady was a Sophomore, and we were in choir together. The choir we were in went to a few festivals, so we ended up becoming good friends through all our shared time together. We even went on a little trip to Big Bear Lake with some of our other choir friends. Mady also has a conn..
So apparently there's a fun thing in October for bloggers called "Blogtober" Clever, huh? The point is to try to publish a blog every day in October! And I will tell you right now, that is not going to happen for me with having a toddler. However, I do absolutely love October and there is so much that I want to share! So as with all things, I will just try my best. As I said, October is actually one of my favorite months, and last year celebrating Nolan's first Halloween and season was so extra ..
Michelle and Steven seriously knew how to roll with the punches. They went through a few different options for their wedding day, and then good ol' coronavirus came and really messed up everything. But as I always say (I really do by the way, I say this at every wedding) "The most important thing about a wedding is that at the end of the day, you're married." Everything other than that is really just fluff. Good fluff, magical dream fluff even, but it's not why we have a wedding (at least I hope..
Well it's August so the year is basically over right? Honestly that might be a blessing at this point considering how absolutely terrible 2020 has been so far. Around this time of year I normally go to the Ventura County Fair with my Mom and enter my photography, and it was cancelled this year which broke my heart honestly. I'm trying not to get my hopes up as we get into the Fall season and trying to make peace with what may continue to be closed. I've definitely been focusing on some personal ..
Who else feels like time just has no meaning anymore? Amelia and Matt’s wedding at the Bel Air Bay Club in Malibu California happened just five months ago. Which if you’re calculating, was right before the United States was heavily impacted by the novel coronavirus and subsequently started shutting down. It’s a weird feeling to think about this wedding, just wandering the venue with groups of family and friends celebrating the day and night away, which is now non-existent here in Los Angeles. (O..
I'm writing this now because it's been exactly one month since we went to Paso Robles for my husband's birthday in early March. And I cannot believe it's been only a month. It was just a few days after we got back that things started closing, including the amazing Sensorio Field of Lights exhibit that was the highlight of our trip. I'm grateful we got to do this when we did, and I want to share some images of the lovely area we visited and especially the Field of Lights. I really hope that they ..
It feels like a lifetime ago that I did this engagement session in Venice Beach. It was the early part of March, before Safer at Home, before stores and restaurants closed down, before things got as bad as they are now. It's just such a weird feeling to be posting these and looking at them now. But we soldier on right? I find that blogging and working on images, even just doing home photography now while we are staying inside is helpful to being able to feel "normal". And love and joy and happin..
