One of my favorite things about being a photographer is the opportunity to explore new places. It's just not practical for me as a Mom to randomly get in my car and drive an hour away to go walk around for a bit. So having clients who offer up suggestions of gorgeous places for their engagement sessions is always such a joy of the job. There are a few regular locations I use for engagement sessions around Simi Valley and the Greater Los Angeles area, but having new suggestions of meaningful plac..
Gone are the days of “elopement” meaning running off to a Vegas without telling anyone to secretly exchange vows. The term “elopement” is now commonly accepted to mean a non-traditional, or small scale wedding. These were taking place far before Covid-19 restrictions and “micro weddings” which gained popularity in 2020. While some couples have always planned for an elopement or smaller scale wedding, many were more or less forced into it because of the restrictions Covid-19 has imposed on weddin..
I finished my first ever full month of a Project 365! If you aren’t familiar, a Project 365 or “365” is a common photography project in which photographers attempt to create one photo a day for an entire year. Another common one is a Project 52, which is one photo per week, usually under a certain theme and with a bit more planning and thought than just a day to day 365.I’ve started this project a couple times in the past but always ended up feeling either uninspired or overwhelmed. Luckily this..
October brought me three gorgeous backyard weddings to witness and photograph. Since Los Angeles and Ventura counties keep going back and forth on various restrictions, which has been so hard for both couples and vendors/ venues to navigate, many couples have chosen to use their own spaces to exchange their vows with just close family and friends. And you can't get closer than getting married in your childhood backyard in Simi Valley surrounded by loved ones. Because there were so many kiddos, a..
Well it's August so the year is basically over right? Honestly that might be a blessing at this point considering how absolutely terrible 2020 has been so far. Around this time of year I normally go to the Ventura County Fair with my Mom and enter my photography, and it was cancelled this year which broke my heart honestly. I'm trying not to get my hopes up as we get into the Fall season and trying to make peace with what may continue to be closed. I've definitely been focusing on some personal ..
I'm writing this now because it's been exactly one month since we went to Paso Robles for my husband's birthday in early March. And I cannot believe it's been only a month. It was just a few days after we got back that things started closing, including the amazing Sensorio Field of Lights exhibit that was the highlight of our trip. I'm grateful we got to do this when we did, and I want to share some images of the lovely area we visited and especially the Field of Lights. I really hope that they ..
It feels like a lifetime ago that I did this engagement session in Venice Beach. It was the early part of March, before Safer at Home, before stores and restaurants closed down, before things got as bad as they are now. It's just such a weird feeling to be posting these and looking at them now. But we soldier on right? I find that blogging and working on images, even just doing home photography now while we are staying inside is helpful to being able to feel "normal". And love and joy and happin..
It's always exciting to me to be able to photograph old friend's that I haven't seen for a bit. Especially when they're HAVING A BABY. It's been ten years since I graduated high school (Santa Susana High School Class of 2010). And in those ten years many of my friends have gotten married, moved away, had babies, are having babies, etc. So to be in a profession where I am able to see these lovely people again and be there to witness these special moments, is something I am so grateful for. L..
Oh gosh, is this my first blog post of the year? Apparently so. Well, at least it's a really really good one! Laura and Rob got married on 2-22-2020 (Uh yeah, best wedding date ever I think) at the Madera Kitchen in Los Angeles. They began their day getting ready at the Line Hotel in Koreatown, which is one of the coolest LA hotels in my opinion. I think you'll see why here from the view from their room. Their day was just chalk full of attention to detail in the best way, all their font matched..
As 2019 wraps up, I continue my tradition of a year in review blog post! In addition to showing off some work, and letting my clients know how much they all mean to me, it's really fun for me to look back and remember the special details of each of these days. I tried to consciously include photos other than bride and groom portraits, because although most any wedding photographer will you tell you that bridal portraits are our favorite to do, they really compose such a short part of the d..
I'm very excited to be sharing this blog post today of a recent October wedding! The California wedding industry is so interesting, because we have weddings basically year round, there's no "off season" here. October, November, and December are just as busy as Spring and Summer! And for good reason, outdoor Summer weddings in Los Angeles can be pretty rough with high 90's weather, so it's nice to cool down a bit in the Fall. Not that this October wedding was really any cooler, it was in the high..
I am so proud of myself to be sitting down blogging right now. Since becoming a Mom everything I set out to do takes about 10x as long, so honestly just having the photos sized and ready, and this tab open to be currently writing is a huge deal for me. AND I AM PROUD. I'm proud of my work, I've still been shooting gorgeous weddings, meeting amazing people, editing, and posting on social media (sometimes), but my poor website has really been set on the back burner. I'm still here! I'm still avail..
As the year closes I'm reflecting on everything that's happened in 2018, especially in regards to my business. And two thoughts keep coming to mind:1. I never in a million years expected to be on this path as of a few years ago.2. This path is hardI took my first photography class at 17. I loved it and never once considered it to be a career. I'm turning 27 next year (yikes) and I cannot believe how far I've come. From a Canon Rebel T3i to here, building a business and brand totally from scratch..
Excited to have this wedding up on the blog! Although my cat was not making it easy with her insistence on laying on my keyboard. She's a pretty terrible co-worker to be honest. Mackenzie and Jack had their wedding at The Oxnard Tower Club- which is such a cool venue. The Tower Club sits 22 floors up in the Morgan Stanley Building in Oxnard. It's views include the 101 Freeway, and the Pacific Ocean. Talk about gorgeous- especially at sunset! The staff is so sweet and the food is pretty amaz..
Happy Friday! We're
finally getting some rain here in Southern California. Rain always
makes me want to leave the house and go on crazy far away adventures. But since my car only has one working light, and my windshield wipers desperately need to be changed, and my tire pressure light just came on yesterday, here I am at the Starbucks down the street. And I
realized- I've NEVER done work at Starbucks before. I usually stay at
home to work, and I never really understood why so many peop..
