Well, 2021 is already over. While 2020 was a year of wedding postponements and cancellations, 2021 was a year of "We don't want to wait anymore" with a lot of weddings and also bigger celebrations of elopements that had already happened in 2020. Actually, about half of my couples this year were already legally married! Lots of engagement sessions, and some family and maternity sessions sprinkled in. It's so cliché, but gosh what a cool job to witness the most beautiful moments in people's lives...
Kayla reached out to me about doing a couple's session with her boyfriend Brandon to celebrate their relationship. Kayla was nervous about their session because they had never had professional photos done before, which is really NOT uncommon! There's this misconception that if you don't know what to do your photos are going to be awful, but the truth is most people and couples that I work with have never had professional photos done, or modeling training. The best photos that I take are when you..
Gone are the days of “elopement” meaning running off to a Vegas without telling anyone to secretly exchange vows. The term “elopement” is now commonly accepted to mean a non-traditional, or small scale wedding. These were taking place far before Covid-19 restrictions and “micro weddings” which gained popularity in 2020. While some couples have always planned for an elopement or smaller scale wedding, many were more or less forced into it because of the restrictions Covid-19 has imposed on weddin..
If you’re one of the couple’s who had their 2020 or 2021 wedding plans changed due to the pandemic, you certainly aren’t alone. And if you’re a newly engaged couple who is trying to figure out what the heck you’re going to do for your wedding in an increasingly uncertain world, this blog post is for you!Melanie and Aaron had their wedding booked at the Camarillo Ranch House, which is a gorgeous historical property and wedding venue in Ventura County in Southern California. I’ve done a couple wed..
October brought me three gorgeous backyard weddings to witness and photograph. Since Los Angeles and Ventura counties keep going back and forth on various restrictions, which has been so hard for both couples and vendors/ venues to navigate, many couples have chosen to use their own spaces to exchange their vows with just close family and friends. And you can't get closer than getting married in your childhood backyard in Simi Valley surrounded by loved ones. Because there were so many kiddos, a..
You know those various people from your past that hold a special place in your heart, even if you haven't seen them in years and years? Mady is one of those people for me. When I was a Senior at Santa Susana High School, Mady was a Sophomore, and we were in choir together. The choir we were in went to a few festivals, so we ended up becoming good friends through all our shared time together. We even went on a little trip to Big Bear Lake with some of our other choir friends. Mady also has a conn..
So apparently there's a fun thing in October for bloggers called "Blogtober" Clever, huh? The point is to try to publish a blog every day in October! And I will tell you right now, that is not going to happen for me with having a toddler. However, I do absolutely love October and there is so much that I want to share! So as with all things, I will just try my best. As I said, October is actually one of my favorite months, and last year celebrating Nolan's first Halloween and season was so extra ..
Michelle and Steven seriously knew how to roll with the punches. They went through a few different options for their wedding day, and then good ol' coronavirus came and really messed up everything. But as I always say (I really do by the way, I say this at every wedding) "The most important thing about a wedding is that at the end of the day, you're married." Everything other than that is really just fluff. Good fluff, magical dream fluff even, but it's not why we have a wedding (at least I hope..
Well it's August so the year is basically over right? Honestly that might be a blessing at this point considering how absolutely terrible 2020 has been so far. Around this time of year I normally go to the Ventura County Fair with my Mom and enter my photography, and it was cancelled this year which broke my heart honestly. I'm trying not to get my hopes up as we get into the Fall season and trying to make peace with what may continue to be closed. I've definitely been focusing on some personal ..
Who else feels like time just has no meaning anymore? Amelia and Matt’s wedding at the Bel Air Bay Club in Malibu California happened just five months ago. Which if you’re calculating, was right before the United States was heavily impacted by the novel coronavirus and subsequently started shutting down. It’s a weird feeling to think about this wedding, just wandering the venue with groups of family and friends celebrating the day and night away, which is now non-existent here in Los Angeles. (O..
It feels like a lifetime ago that I did this engagement session in Venice Beach. It was the early part of March, before Safer at Home, before stores and restaurants closed down, before things got as bad as they are now. It's just such a weird feeling to be posting these and looking at them now. But we soldier on right? I find that blogging and working on images, even just doing home photography now while we are staying inside is helpful to being able to feel "normal". And love and joy and happin..
Oh gosh, is this my first blog post of the year? Apparently so. Well, at least it's a really really good one! Laura and Rob got married on 2-22-2020 (Uh yeah, best wedding date ever I think) at the Madera Kitchen in Los Angeles. They began their day getting ready at the Line Hotel in Koreatown, which is one of the coolest LA hotels in my opinion. I think you'll see why here from the view from their room. Their day was just chalk full of attention to detail in the best way, all their font matched..
As 2019 wraps up, I continue my tradition of a year in review blog post! In addition to showing off some work, and letting my clients know how much they all mean to me, it's really fun for me to look back and remember the special details of each of these days. I tried to consciously include photos other than bride and groom portraits, because although most any wedding photographer will you tell you that bridal portraits are our favorite to do, they really compose such a short part of the d..
I am so proud of myself to be sitting down blogging right now. Since becoming a Mom everything I set out to do takes about 10x as long, so honestly just having the photos sized and ready, and this tab open to be currently writing is a huge deal for me. AND I AM PROUD. I'm proud of my work, I've still been shooting gorgeous weddings, meeting amazing people, editing, and posting on social media (sometimes), but my poor website has really been set on the back burner. I'm still here! I'm still avail..
Hey all! I'm 39 weeks pregnant, no signs of baby yet. On the one hand: I'm pretty dang uncomfortable and annoyed. On the other hand: I have some free time to blog before he comes! This post has been in the works for awhile, and then my energy and focus took a massive dive the last trimester of my pregnancy and it got put on the back burner. But now I'm here!Heather and Patrick were my wedding clients in 2017. They were the sweetest, had such a beautiful wedding, and have kept in touch since then..
