As the year closes I'm reflecting on everything that's happened in 2018, especially in regards to my business. And two thoughts keep coming to mind:1. I never in a million years expected to be on this path as of a few years ago.2. This path is hardI took my first photography class at 17. I loved it and never once considered it to be a career. I'm turning 27 next year (yikes) and I cannot believe how far I've come. From a Canon Rebel T3i to here, building a business and brand totally from scratch..
Excited to have this wedding up on the blog! Although my cat was not making it easy with her insistence on laying on my keyboard. She's a pretty terrible co-worker to be honest. Mackenzie and Jack had their wedding at The Oxnard Tower Club- which is such a cool venue. The Tower Club sits 22 floors up in the Morgan Stanley Building in Oxnard. It's views include the 101 Freeway, and the Pacific Ocean. Talk about gorgeous- especially at sunset! The staff is so sweet and the food is pretty amaz..
Happy Friday! We're
finally getting some rain here in Southern California. Rain always
makes me want to leave the house and go on crazy far away adventures. But since my car only has one working light, and my windshield wipers desperately need to be changed, and my tire pressure light just came on yesterday, here I am at the Starbucks down the street. And I
realized- I've NEVER done work at Starbucks before. I usually stay at
home to work, and I never really understood why so many peop..
Cameron and Daniel are planning a December wedding at the gorgeous Camarillo Ranch House, and wanted an equally rustic and romantic location for their engagement session. I knew just the place! Corriganville Park on the very edge of Simi Valley is an amazing location that is always different at different times of the year! I did a bridal shoot here back in January (See Here!) so I had an idea of how it would look, but I was SO excited to find these gorgeous red flowers all around when..
Growing up in Simi Valley, I took several field trips trips to the Strathearn Historical Park and Museum nestled in Ventura County. This historical park holds buildings significant to the history of Simi Valley and the surrounding areas- plus it's insanely pretty with tons of awesome photogenic nooks and crannies. This summer wedding was "jammed full" of rustic DIY elements- hand painted signs, insanely cute homemade jam favors, giant outdoor lawn games, and an incredible photobooth setup for fu..
I'm finally getting around to blogging this session on my own, and honestly I don't know why it took me so long because this was one of my favorite sessions to date. In January part of this session was featured on LDS Bride Blog (A blog specifically showcasing Latter Day Saint/ Mormon weddings). See It Here! Chelsea was married in 2011 in the Los Angeles Temple, and never had time to do a bridal session, so I was happy to do this session for her! We did this session in late December in..
I had the privilege to photograph Tessa and Brian and their little one(s) in Corriganville Regional Park in Simi Valley. We had just had some nice rains the couple of weeks before so everything was still beautiful and green. This family was so fun to work with and their little boy had such a great personality! I love being able to photograph families in love!"A plane!"..
This Alice in Wonderland inspired Romantic Tea Party styled shoot
took place in Somis, CA at the beautiful Hartley Botanica Gardens and
Nursery. This was a coming together of many wedding professionals in
Ventura County, CA. The couple is a real couple who met through a
shared love of swing dancing. We wanted to incorporate both the "tea
party" theme of the bride wearing a tea length dress and quaint
tablescapes, as well as the Alice in Wonderland "Queen of
Hearts" theme- with her tiara a..
Chloe and Eric attended a black tie wedding as guests, and decided to do a session beforehand to show off their fancy duds. (Duds is a word I use apparently). The gorgeous Westlake Village Inn was the perfect backdrop for their portraits, with it's beautiful colors and architecture. ..
Natalie and Davey were such a joy to work with for this cuddly golden hour couple's session. What a joy to be able to photograph people in love. <3..
This summer backyard wedding reception was a joy to photograph. Martin and Julie were married and sealed in the Los Angeles California Temple, and then came home to Simi Valley to celebrate. There's nothing quite like golden hour in Southern California- it's definitely a wedding photographer's dream. It's especially dreamy when paired with rustic DIY decor in a gorgeous backyard. My favorite detail was the cardboard cut-out of the Groom's brother, who could not attend the wedding due to serving ..
