As 2019 wraps up, I continue my tradition of a year in review blog post! In addition to showing off some work, and letting my clients know how much they all mean to me, it's really fun for me to look back and remember the special details of each of these days. I tried to consciously include photos other than bride and groom portraits, because although most any wedding photographer will you tell you that bridal portraits are our favorite to do, they really compose such a short part of the d..
I am so proud of myself to be sitting down blogging right now. Since becoming a Mom everything I set out to do takes about 10x as long, so honestly just having the photos sized and ready, and this tab open to be currently writing is a huge deal for me. AND I AM PROUD. I'm proud of my work, I've still been shooting gorgeous weddings, meeting amazing people, editing, and posting on social media (sometimes), but my poor website has really been set on the back burner. I'm still here! I'm still avail..
This was one of my first sessions in 2017! Natalie and Davey were so cozy and snuggly and it gave me all the warm feelings. Not like I needed warm feelings when our winters in California are about 80 degrees. But still! I really tried to get away from stiff posing last year, and lean more towards gentle guiding and then letting the couple just do their thing!I mean, how could I not choose this? Shawna and Derek are my best and closest friends, and I was so lucky to be able to use them as models ..
So many great things came together for this elopement inspiration shoot! A little backstory, when I went to Minneapolis to shoot a wedding in October, I went to the Mall of America and spent a ridiculous amount of time inside. While in the three story Forever 21, I found this white lace top on sale, and this shoot idea immediately came to me. Visions of the lace top, a bright red skirt, and a giant floral bouquet swirled in my head. And oh what a joyous day when visions turn into reality so perf..
I often hear brides ask for the pros and cons of first looks. So let me just say, I LOVE first looks. I love when my couple's do them, and I love them just in the general sense of being glad they exist. And here's 5 reasons (pros) why:1. You will be nervous before the ceremony. Both of you. First looks alleviate a lot of that tension, and allow you to focus more on the day rather than nerves.2. More time for photos! When you do a first look you open up time for family and bridal party photos that..
This macabre bridal inspiration session took elements from the Autumn season, Halloween, and the Mexican celebration of Dia de los Muertos to create a seasonal off beat bridal look. Jen from Urban Marigold created this amazing fall floral bouquet, Rani from Beauty by Rani did the incredible skull makeup, and our black lace Halloween dress and flower crown are from... Amazon.com :) I'm so grateful to these incredible creative women who helped me to bring this idea to fruition. Links below!F..
Cameron and Daniel are planning a December wedding at the gorgeous Camarillo Ranch House, and wanted an equally rustic and romantic location for their engagement session. I knew just the place! Corriganville Park on the very edge of Simi Valley is an amazing location that is always different at different times of the year! I did a bridal shoot here back in January (See Here!) so I had an idea of how it would look, but I was SO excited to find these gorgeous red flowers all around when..
What's better than an intimate backyard wedding on a balcony overlooking the beautiful hills and trees of Arroyo Grande, California? NOTHING. Ok, well maybe not nothing but backyard weddings are pretty high up on the best things in life list. Amanda and Anthony chose to be married at Anthony's parent's home in this beautiful town in San Luis Obispo County, California. There was lots of emotion, prayer, and so much love in this sweet ceremony. A local Arroyo Grande bakery made honey la..
Shelby and Rob's Santa Barbara Courthouse Wedding was a photographer's dream! I love venues that have that perfect mix of gorgeous lush foliage, and also super unique architecture. The Courthouse definitely has both! This sweet ceremony took place in the Mural Room, named for the gorgeous colorful murals of California's history. Their ceremony was short and so sweet, followed by a lot of time to explore the Courthouse and grounds and take advantage of it's incredibly unique and very Santa Baraba..
I have a lot to say about this styled elopement shoot at the gorgeous Reptacular Ranch in Los Angeles County, and I'm excited to be blogging it on this Monday afternoon. This shoot was planned and put together entirely by me (wedding planners- I have mad respect for you). It was so exciting to be able to do this in the winter here in CA while we had a lot of rain that made things so green and gorgeous. The only downside was that we had the worst storm in 10 years the day before our shoot was sch..
