Happy Friday! We're
finally getting some rain here in Southern California. Rain always
makes me want to leave the house and go on crazy far away adventures. But since my car only has one working light, and my windshield wipers desperately need to be changed, and my tire pressure light just came on yesterday, here I am at the Starbucks down the street. And I
realized- I've NEVER done work at Starbucks before. I usually stay at
home to work, and I never really understood why so many peop..
So remember when I said I was going to blog every Friday all year? Me too. But hey, quality over quantity right? And it turns out quality involves going through galleries, choosing photos, formatting them for web, making diptychs of verticals, exporting, uploading, and creating a blog post. But you know what? It's worth it when it happens. Especially because I get to relive some awesome weddings all over again! And today's couple may look familiar. I did a beach session with these two cuties bef..
It's such a weird feeling to be on the other side of the camera- being the model instead of the photographer. It's also a good feeling when it's to take pictures snuggling the love of your life. And it's an especially good feeling considering my husband does not love posing for pictures (which makes my life hard as a photographer). For New Year's Eve in 2016 we took a little road trip to The Grand Canyon, so for New Year's Eve 2017 we wanted to do something similar. I wanted to take Max to Zion ..
This was one of my first sessions in 2017! Natalie and Davey were so cozy and snuggly and it gave me all the warm feelings. Not like I needed warm feelings when our winters in California are about 80 degrees. But still! I really tried to get away from stiff posing last year, and lean more towards gentle guiding and then letting the couple just do their thing!I mean, how could I not choose this? Shawna and Derek are my best and closest friends, and I was so lucky to be able to use them as models ..
I often hear brides ask for the pros and cons of first looks. So let me just say, I LOVE first looks. I love when my couple's do them, and I love them just in the general sense of being glad they exist. And here's 5 reasons (pros) why:1. You will be nervous before the ceremony. Both of you. First looks alleviate a lot of that tension, and allow you to focus more on the day rather than nerves.2. More time for photos! When you do a first look you open up time for family and bridal party photos that..
Before Sam and David were married in the Salt Lake City Temple in August, we took to the beach in Ventura for a pre-wedding bridal session! As I'm sure you're aware, there are no oceans in Utah, so having wedding photos done on the beach was important to Sam, being from Southern California. And of course I'm not one to say no to fun opportunities like this! We had planned a sunrise shoot, but I had completely forgotten about the thick fog layer that Ventura has until the afternoon. We definitely..
Cameron and Daniel are planning a December wedding at the gorgeous Camarillo Ranch House, and wanted an equally rustic and romantic location for their engagement session. I knew just the place! Corriganville Park on the very edge of Simi Valley is an amazing location that is always different at different times of the year! I did a bridal shoot here back in January (See Here!) so I had an idea of how it would look, but I was SO excited to find these gorgeous red flowers all around when..
What's better than an intimate backyard wedding on a balcony overlooking the beautiful hills and trees of Arroyo Grande, California? NOTHING. Ok, well maybe not nothing but backyard weddings are pretty high up on the best things in life list. Amanda and Anthony chose to be married at Anthony's parent's home in this beautiful town in San Luis Obispo County, California. There was lots of emotion, prayer, and so much love in this sweet ceremony. A local Arroyo Grande bakery made honey la..
Shelby and Rob's Santa Barbara Courthouse Wedding was a photographer's dream! I love venues that have that perfect mix of gorgeous lush foliage, and also super unique architecture. The Courthouse definitely has both! This sweet ceremony took place in the Mural Room, named for the gorgeous colorful murals of California's history. Their ceremony was short and so sweet, followed by a lot of time to explore the Courthouse and grounds and take advantage of it's incredibly unique and very Santa Baraba..
